Card Games
Slap Jack:
Divide the deck of cards by the number of people playing the game. Each player should have an equal number of cards in their pile of cards. Their cards should be face down. Go around the room and have each player put a card, face up, in the middle. When a jack is placed on the pile every player must try to slap it. The first person to hit it gets all the cards under it. The person who has the most cards at the end wins.
Go Fish:
Pick a player to start the game by age or by drawing cards to see who gets the highest number. Ask any player in the game if he has cards you need — you must have at least one card in your hand before you ask for others of the same rank.
For example, if you already have a King, ask a player if he has any Kings. If he does, he must give them all to you. If you steal cards, your turn continues and you can ask any player for cards again.
If a player doesn’t have the cards you need, he tells you to “Go Fish.” You then take a card from the fish pond deck. If you get lucky and pick up the rank you asked for, you carry on asking for cards; if not, play passes to the player on your left. Alternatively, have the player who said “Go Fish” take the next turn.
TicTacToe:
Draw a chart with 9 squares. Take turns putting x’s and o’s on the chart until someone gets three symbols right in a row.Hangman
Pick one person to be the executioner. That person should think of a word or phrase for the other person to guess. They need to draw a “scaffold” on the paper. Below it, the executioner draws a short dash for each letter of the word or phrase; being sure to include a gap or slash between words. Have the other person guess which letters are in the word or phrase, one at a time. If the letter is part of the answer, the executioner writes it in each space that corresponds with the answer. If the letter is not in the answer, a body part of a stick figure is drawn attached to the scaffold.TIP: Depending on how long you want to game to last, include more or fewer body parts: arms, legs, head, torso, hands, feet, and so on.
